Networks running on top of the TCP/IP protocols. When written with a capital "I" refers to the Internet as a whole, all networks combined world wide. When written with a lower case "i" refers to any small internet made up of two or more networks.
Intranet
Similar to Extranet except meant for internal staff use only. An intranet provides a secure area for the sharing of sensitive information, documents, data and contacts. A private web based enviroment accessible from anywhere there is an internet connected computer present.

IP
Acronym for : Internet Protocol. The protocol used to route packets of data from the source computer to the destination over the Internet.
IP Address
A unique numeric address issued to each computer connected to the net. An IP Address consists of 4 sub nets, each 1 to 3 digits long and sperated by dots. E.g. 24.12.4.234
ISP
Acronym for : Internet Service Provider. A company that provides access to the Internet. ISP's can be hosts which provide storage and serve web pages or companies that provide access to the Internet via your modem.
